5: Spencer Redux
Spencer spotted her across a crowded dance floor. His college roommate had just gotten married, and one of the bridesmaids was clearly enjoying both the music and the open bar. She was out of his league looks-wise but her manner seemed approachable, so he shot his shot despite the fact that he wasn’t quite certain of her name.
They danced together, scarcely able to talk over the music. After two songs, she winked and led him away to a coat closet. Once there she knelt down, pulled his cummerbund out of the way, and giggled. She fumbled with the buttons on his trousers. Soon, his cock sprung free from his boxers, slapping against her chin. Her hand gently cradled his balls while her tongue lightly teased the tip of him.
The system awakened Ava to begin her day. The dream she had just experienced had a very different tone than ever before, and this was just the first of many ways in which this day would prove a departure from the hundreds that had come before it.
As Ava stepped out of the maintenance pod she noticed the maidbot closet was more crowded than usual. The back corner was occupied by a second Ava, the recently-returned android version. The android came to life and stepped into the just-vacated pod. With two maidbots, the system was having them take turns.
The larger change, however, came next. Rather than directing the normal morning process of dressing, applying makeup and preparing for a day of maidbot activities, the system abruptly deactivated, leaving a confused Spencer standing there wearing only his collar and chastity belt. He saw that a non-maidbot outfit had been laid out, including a t-shirt from a concert he’d attended. He hadn’t seen his own clothing since it was placed in storage long ago, and its sight caused something of a reverse identity shock.
Unsure, Spencer reverted to habit, donning a maidbot uniform. His body seemed to remember how to make coffee without the system’s direction. And so, just as other mornings, he carried a tray into his mother’s bedroom.
Cassandra, still in bed, sat up. She seemed a bit surprised that Ava, unlike most mornings, was looking her in the eye. This gesture of familiarity represented a significant violation of maidbot protocol.
“Spencer? Is that you?”
He swallowed. “It is. Good morning, mistress.”
She chose not to correct the way he addressed her just yet. “Good morning. So you decided, on your own, to dress like that and prepare coffee?”
“It’s what I do in the morning, but I was confused to find myself in control while it happened. Is this something to do with the other maidbot?”
“Let me enjoy my coffee and get dressed, and I’ll walk you through the whole situation.”
Coming downstairs, Cassandra found her son cleaning the kitchen, still dressed as before. She asked him to join her in the living room.
As he entered, she spoke first. “When you started serving as Ava we’d agreed that it would be until the android maidbot was repaired. That ended up being a lot longer than we’d anticipated, but that time has finally arrived.”
Spencer looked lost. “I … I don’t know what to say. I’ve been doing this for quite a while and the prospect of changing things feels… unmooring.”
“I’m sure it does, but this is what we’d agreed on. It’s not like you could remain a maidbot forever.” Her tone was unwavering but she too held uncertainty as to the right choice.
When Olivia brought the android Ava home the prior day, there had been a long discussion between the two about what course of action was best. Olivia cautioned that Spencer would likely be resistant to this change. Still, Cassandra didn’t feel like it was her place to unilaterally alter the bargain they had struck without him being able to freely make a choice.
Spencer was indeed resistant. “Do I get a say in this at all?”
She did not directly answer. “Today begins the process of detransitioning. An excellent start to that would be for you to stop wearing the maidbot uniform and put on the clothes I requested Ava, the other one, to lay out for you.”
He bristled at hearing what he had come to consider his own name being used to refer to someone else. Despite this, he had also become very much accustomed to complying with his mistress’s directions. “I … I guess I could try that much.”
“The same process of adjustments that have been helping you serve as Ava will now happen in reverse. Today you can start drinking water, and over the next week or so we can slowly get you back to eating solid food. The system is no longer maintaining its cosmetic changes, so your appearance will gradually go back to the real you. I’m looking forward,” she said with a tight-lipped smile, “to seeing my son again.”
Over the next couple of weeks, a lot changed. Spencer began to drink simple broth and other easily digested food, and soon his stomach could tolerate protein shakes. He wore normal male clothes, at least when his mother was home. His skin tone, eye color, and other appearance tweaks slowly changed back toward their original states. He still slept in the maidbot pod while the system gradually decreased his nanopaste regimen. Each night he experienced dreams intended to restore the erotic proclivities of a straight man. Still, he remained upset that the other Ava’s arrival had thrown such a wrench into his world.
“I have to say, I’m not sure how this detransitioning process is going,” Cassandra said with concern.
Olivia, on the other end of the video call, struck a sympathetic tone. “I’m sorry to hear that. What’s happening to make you say this?”
“When I ask Ava, the android one, for anything, Spencer immediately jumps up to respond. When she comes into the room to serve us, he just stares at her the whole time, seething.”
“Now Cassie, we did discuss the fact that it’s common for a volunteer to be initially unhappy to end their service. But we have to push past that to give him the ability to choose his own direction.”
Cassandra took a breath. “Yes, but it doesn’t seem to be improving. The other day I came home from an appointment early and caught him wearing the full maidbot outfit, cleaning. When I asked, he admitted he does that every single time I leave the house.”
Olivia frowned. “I’d hoped that sort of thing would have tapered off by now. What’s more, looking over his collar telemetry, it seems like the attempts to awaken his original identity aren’t producing the desired response. Dreams about Spencer, even featuring erotic content, just don’t seem to excite him the way maidbot conditioning dreams did.”
“What does that mean? He just doesn’t want to let Ava go?”
“It’s not common but some volunteers do come to regard the maidbot persona as their true revealed self. I had one tell me it was like how Michaelangelo believed that David was already present in the marble before he sculpted it, and all he needed to do was remove the unneeded bits.”
“Wow. And you’re saying Spencer might think that now?”
“Let’s not jump to conclusions just yet. I have an idea for how to push the process forward, involving both a carrot and a stick.”
Spencer surveyed the four women, who stood naked staring straight ahead. Walking down the row, he handed each a Sharpie.
“You now have five minutes to write instructions on your body as to how you would like it to be used by me. Whoever’s work most pleases me, will have the honor of those requests being granted. Remember, penmanship counts.”
Soon the contestants lined up to be judged. One had written MAKE ME TAKE IT on her forehead, which is evocative but subject to interpretation. Another stood facing away, bent over, with her hands pulled her cheeks apart to display the label SPENCER’S WH_RE with her butthole serving as one of the letters. Both hot, he thought, but perhaps a bit obvious.
The third gave a sexy librarian look. Her chest read AIM FOR MY SPECS, with large fake glasses drawn on her breasts. Did she mean the spectacles on her tits, or the real ones on her face? This mystery intrigued Spencer.
The fourth stood facing away, showing her lower back clearly read A2M PLZ. He appreciated the clarity and economy of letters. Clearly it was between these last two, but perhaps some sort of tie-breaker would be required.
Knowing this would be the last chance for a system-induced dream to steer Spencer’s desires, Olivia, too, was holding nothing back. She hoped this would shape the dreams he would experience on his own.
When Spencer awoke, the service pod’s normal routine omitted a step – it did not secure a chastity belt, but left him unencumbered. He was a bit confused but proceeded to dress in trousers and a t-shirt as normal.
He found his mother in the kitchen. When he asked if she wanted coffee, she shook her head, produced a key, and unlocked the control collar from his neck. Spencer’s body and mind were now fully unsecured for the first time in a long while.
“I’m happy to tell you that you’re officially weaned off the nanopaste! You can now eat and drink and use the bathroom like normal, and no longer need the pod.”
“Oh.” He didn’t exactly seem giddy.
When Spencer went to the guest room, he found it filled with all his things from a year ago. His negative feelings quickly changed when he realized that he was, at long last, free to pleasure himself. Soon he was going at it like a teenaged boy, rediscovering the one part of his body that had remained unchanged throughout all of this.
Later that day, he tried to sneak back into the maidbot closet to feel the uniforms, as he did a few times in the average day, but he found it locked.
“You won’t be needing things from there any more.” Cassandra reprimanded her son, who had not heard her coming. Startled and embarrassed, Spencer did something that he hadn’t done in a long time. He lost control of his emotions and erupted.
“So controlling,” he said, looking his mother dead in the eyes. “No wonder Dad left.”
He turned to leave dramatically. As he left the room, his mother’s tearful eyes were drawn to the maidbot tattoo still visible on his neck. Things sure were less complicated, she thought, when he was wearing that collar.
Ava knelt down beside the filthy bathtub and began to scour. The surface was caked with scum and required some elbow grease to dislodge. Gradually she wiped it away, finding that the action also mysteriously caused erotic sensations in her maidbot body.
Suddenly, she was summoned to the living room, where she found her owner. Without speaking, nor looking up from her book, the mistress pointed to her feet. Ava understood, and knelt once again. Touching those feet felt electric, ten times as exciting as scrubbing the tub had been.
A couple more weeks had passed since Spencer moved back to his room. With no collar any dreams were now his own, with no outside control, and yet they seemed to still resemble those from his maidbot conditioning.
Other aspects of normal life were returning. Spencer’s mother treated him to Chinese takeout, just as she had tried to do before. This time he enjoyed it and did seem to appreciate being able to eat it now. Even so, her concerns about his lack of progress persisted. He hadn’t rekindled any of his hobbies or interests, and didn’t seem to be taking steps toward rebuilding a functional life. She decided to get outside help more directly involved.
Olivia looked up as Spencer entered the living room. Fresh from the barber, he was definitely looking more like himself than like the non-human maidbot who had just brought in the tea.
“Hello Spencer, I’m Olivia. We’ve met before but you looked … different. Do you know who I am?”
Spencer vividly recalled the sensation of her taking measurements for his chastity belt fitting. Diplomatically, he chose not to bring this up. “Yes, I remember meeting you briefly, and I’ve heard my mist… my mother, speak with you.”
Olivia smiled at the Freudian slip. “And do you know what it is that I do?”
“I mean, you work for the maidbot company.”
“Yes, I’m a Volunteer Maidbot Success Engineer. My job is to make sure that when a person volunteers to be a maidbot we get a result that’s good for the volunteer. Tell me Spencer, what was it like while you were Ava?”
Spencer smiled wistfully. “At first it was weird, but I came to be very comfortable and content.”
“Yes. So that content feeling is what a volunteer should feel, because it helps make the maidbot experience a positive one. I’m the one who made that content feeling happen, because I knew it was best for you in that situation. I’m asking you to trust me again, to help navigate what’s best for you now.”
“Now?”
“Yes, my job also involves helping the volunteer to transition back. Your mother tells me that hasn’t been going as well.”
“I mean, I’m getting back to what my life was like before, but it wasn’t very good if I’m being honest.”
“You have your own body back now. No control, no chastity belt. You must enjoy that at least.”
Spencer blushed but did not respond.
“And what is it that excites you when you do? What do you fantasize about? What is it you dream of doing, now that the whole world is back on the table?”
Spencer looked down at his feet.
“I assure you, I’ve heard it all. Do you find yourself imagining being a maidbot again?”
His lack of response was very much an answer.
“Totally normal for someone in your situation, I understand, but I’d definitely encourage you to explore other ideas and see if you can’t find something else that also excites you. Think about what you used to want before, and just be curious about whether maybe those desires are still there somewhere.”
The next day, Olivia followed up via text.
Hello Cassie! So, I spoke with Spencer, and I think taking him to see that career counselor we discussed last week is a good idea.
I think so too, but he doesn’t want to.
It’s important. You might need to humor him about that thing he’s been begging you for.
Cassandra raised her eyebrows as she read. You really think that’s a good idea?
So long as it’s just the one time.
Spencer entered the home with a dejected look.
His mother greeted him. “How did it go with the career counselor?”
“I mean, not great. He discussed how having a year-long gap in my resume doesn’t do me any favors in the current market, my prior employer fired me for poor performance, and there’s just not a lot of obvious opportunities out there for someone like me.”
“Oh honey, I know that wasn’t quite what you were hoping to hear.”
“He did say something about some certificate training programs I might consider to update my skills.”
“Well, that’s something to think about. You’ve taken the first step in starting the conversation.”
“I joked that the only job I seem to be qualified for is a maidbot. He cautioned me against that option, saying that promises of paid maidbot gigs were quite sketchy, but I think he was just trying to scare me.”
“Oh, no, dear,” she said with genuine concern. “Being a maidbot is terribly vulnerable, and not something to consider doing with strangers. Only with someone you can really trust.”
Spencer stared down at the ground without speaking.
“Speaking of, I know the main reason you went was my promise to indulge you afterwards, so go to your room and you’ll find something waiting.”
Spencer opened the door to find a maid uniform laid out for him. Skirt, apron, frilly blouse, corset, panties, stockings, even the headdress. Heart racing, he pulled off the ill-fitting suit he’d worn for the meeting and began to slowly dress himself, savoring what had become a rare treat. His excitement grew with each additional component. There was, alas, one piece missing: the collar. He would merely be playing maidbot this evening, not becoming one again.
Spencer waited on his mother, who played along. She addressed him as “Ava” and came up with small requests because she knew how happy he was to serve her. After being served a fourth cocktail she made the request she knew he’d been waiting for: to rub her feet. Trembling slightly, he knelt down and began.
“Tell me, is it different doing this without the collar controlling you?”
“My muscles remember how to do it, but there’s a small voice of anxiety unsure if I’m doing it correctly, or worrying about what will happen tomorrow.”
“Yes, I can feel that uncertainty in your technique.” She shot her son a smirk. “So you’re saying that in order to give the best possible foot rubs, you would need to be turned back into a maidbot?”
“I mean, I know you’re making fun of me, but also yes.”
“Surely you wouldn’t want to go back to that? There must have been aspects of it you didn’t care for.”
“A few, at first. But in time I grew to love them too, the system creates some very powerful positive associations.”
Finishing her drink, she set the glass down clumsily. “That’s a bit surprising, because during your maidbot adventure I had your settings at rather moderate levels.” She turned her phone around to show him. “For example, here’s the slider for your conditioning dream intensity, roughly in the middle of its range. It can be slid,” she said while adjusting the control, “up to highly vivid."
Spencer’s eyes grew large.
“And there’s more.” She showed him another slider labeled identity, currently set at the moderate value of suppress reminders. As she moved her finger it changed to the top value: ‘actively rewrite’. “I always wondered what would happen if I just cranked all these settings, like this. Bloop! Bloop!” she uttered with increasingly slurred speech as she slid more controls to their maximums. “You were a good maidbot, but I’ll bet that would have chiseled you into an absolute masterpiece,” she teased.
Even though these changes didn’t currently do anything because he was not wearing a collar, Spencer felt terrified, but even more excited.
“OK, indulgence time is over, good night dear.” Cassandra’s stumble upon standing made it clear she would have done better to stop after just three drinks, so he helped her down the hall. He hoped she would allow him to turn down the bed for her, one last maidbot task, but she just collapsed on top of the comforter and bade him good night again.
Back in his own room, Spencer felt a loss as he removed the maid outfit for bed. He hoped to have dreams about being Ava again, which happened often since removing the collar. Sleep eluded him as he ruminated about the conversation with the occupational adviser and what the future might hold.
Just as every night, Spencer got up at 2 AM for a protein shake. Initially this was to help regulate his stomach from the nanopaste but now it was just a habit. He noticed that the maidbot closet door, fastidiously kept locked for the past few weeks, sat ajar. He went in, just to reminisce.
The android Ava stood in the service pod, eyes closed and motionless. She was wearing only her collar, her perfectly molded artificial body on display. Most guys would have been excited at the prospect of seeing or touching her, but Spencer only wanted to be her. He gazed and thought longingly about all the nights he’d spent in that pod.
Looking to the left he saw a small shelf holding another collar. Holding his collar. The one he had worn for so long. Taking it in his hands it felt familiar and inviting.
Hands trembling, he held the piece up to his neck and looked in the mirror. It looked perfect, as though it was made for him and he for it. He wondered if he dared put it back on, even knowing that it wouldn’t be like last time given the changes he’d just watched his mother configure.
Looking back to the shelf, he found the missing piece: the padlock. A broad smile crossed his face as he reached behind his neck and threaded the shackle into place. Spencer drew a deep breath and slid it closed with a firm thunk.
